Carlos Nuñez (Jay Hernandez) is a poor Latino boy, travelling 2 hours a day to attend a better highschool for his education. He was a serious straight A student who set his sights on becoming a pilot. He had his whole life planned out for him until he met Nicole. Nicole Oakley (Kirsten Dunst) is a troubled teenage girl and the daughter of a rich congressman. She's wild and rebellious but all she really wants is for somebody to love her. Nicole was very close to her mother but her mother killed herself when Nicole was only 12 years old. Her relationship with her father is pretty strained and being remarried himself to a nasty step-mother doesnt really help their relationship grow into anything better.
Nicole meets fellow high school student, Carlos Nuñez, while she's serving community service hours picking up garbage at the beach. Nicole makes a play for Carlos, and her bad-girl ways distract him from his studies. What starts out as a flirtatious crush turns to true love and they can barely stand to be apart. When Carlos meets Nicole's father, he agrees to help him with his dreams of becoming a pilot, if only he stays away from his daughter for she could possibly ruin his chances of becoming successful. At first Carlos backs off, but realizes he's in love with her and decides to stick by her side.
The rest i guess, is for you to find out. I really liked this movie and it kind of opened my eyes on what the meaning of true love is. Atleast, part of the meaning. I mean this guy would throw away everything he'd worked for his entire life for this troubled gurl that he just met. It's very inspiring if you ask me. I mean, I don't know anyone who would do that. But on Nicole's part, she doesn't just let him do that, forget his studies and dreams, she eventually realizes that they can't just run away with eachother and start a new life, but they have to go back. I don't want to give out the ending but, what the hell.. Carlos does become a pilot! hehehe... So guys, watch this movie. It's really good. Ü o btw, Jay Hernandez is really hot in this movie. Ü
